What is the most effective type of screw / plug for weight to use in a part of the wall that has already been repaired with polyfilla?

I had a Brantia internal washing line for maybe ten years until one day it came crashing down due to the weight demands put on it and it pulled the plug on one side out of the wall with a bit of the wall as well. The hooks on the other side were just fine, but on the other side there is a metal plate where you clip one end while the other is held in place by a screw. I filled it with polyfilla but came down after just a week as the screws / plugs supplied are small and generic and I polyfillla is less strong that brick. I was thining if I used some kind of anchor plug - with a base the can spread wider, that might do the trick. Like I say the previous one lasted 10 years. Any tips for a newbie like me would be much appreciated. Thanks

Are you trying to attach the the new fixings excatly where the old ones were? Forget ever using the supplied plugs/screws they are seldom up to the job. A photo of the fitting and where you want to fit it might help ....

You can attach a board to the wall and secure it with multiple screws to distribute the load. Then secure the line to the board. You might want to add a simple prop to the middle of the line to reduce load further. When you are not using the line, you can remove the prop. The prop could just be a Y shaped pole.

Use a longer screw, cut the end off one plug and add another in line to the required depth. Nylon fischer plugs and spax screws to 70mm.
