• Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.

What have you been doing today?

Clearing out my garage at home - going to bring my tools from the workshop home as I’m thinking of selling up before Rachel decides to add another increase to the CGT. Sorting it into 4 piles. Some stuff is going in the loft, keeping some, another lot round my mums, dump the rest. I thought I didn’t have anything to chuck but I’ve got at least two car loads already. I’m being strict - if I haven’t used it in the last year, it’s being dumped!

Two car loads so far, moved a bench and a lot of gear round my mums, she got me clearing out 2 sheds and the garden and cleared it of rubbish so I ended up taking another car load to the tip. Still got a car load left in the garage. Going to load it up tonight and take it to the tip tomorrow. I’ve been at it for 7 hours solid now - I’m going to ache like a bastard later!

Fine things to have around...you can climb 'em, sit in 'em, watch the world go by in 'em.
Ain't nuthin' you can't do with the right wood.
Where would the world be without 'em?

All done...

From certain angles i think it gives more depth; almost a kind o' 3D affect...

I decorated our spare back bedroom with some tree themed wallpaper once. We had no net curtains or blinds at the time and the windows were the full width of the room. Birds were always flying into the windows and a couple of them broke their necks!

Just back from B&Q. Intended to buy 6 x 3.6mm ply and 2 x 9mm ply. Checked online, said my store had 10x of the 9mm in stock. I know these stock estimate thingies can be out, however reckoned they'd at least have a couple of the 9mm.

Got there. None :(

Thankfully they had copious amounts of the 3.6mm so wasn't an entirely wasted trip.

Used to have that problem 'til the day came when a young thrush flew headlong into the kitchen window; despite me waving my arms and yelling - must've thought i was directing it in...the 'thud' when it hit the glass was an awful sound. Hit it at full speed, so fast it doesn't even know it's dead yet. Got stickers for the glass after that: butterflies. They work, too. The Fat Pigeon managed to swerve in time to avoid collision.

I’ve had a few knock themselves out but after looking after them until they came round, they made a full recovery after a couple of minutes and flown off.

Just off to the tip in a minute to get rid of my final car load of rubbish. I looked it up to see the opening time today (7.30) and it shows a map of where to go. There's 40, yes forty, different sections! If you don’t load your vehicle up accordingly, you end up going round several times and they ask you for I.D. Each time you go round. They’re right sticklers too - if you accidentally chuck a piece of wood or glass in with the general non-recyclables, they’re all over you like a bad rash - it’s a wonder they’ve not all been issued with whistles. Bloody council Jobsworths……
