Not a cheap holiday anymore. I remember a few years back being shocked at the prices in Cornwall, to pitch a tent is almost B&B prices. Caravans are the same, nieces daughter got a quote for £1500 for a week for a caravan at a site they like, it was peak season, in the they got a nice airbnb cottage for about a grand.

~We are going to the lakes in a few weeks time, we have spent £600 on the pitch plus the £1500 so far on the tent and accessories, christ we could have gone on another cruise at this rate and we are only in a tent. Might have under estimated the actual costs. Daughters fault for encouraging us.

hopefully it will hold out, we booked into a site 20 min drive from our house to test everything out and learn to put the tent up, hoefully to have an easier time in the lakes. a large group of us is going, so regardless it should be fun. I suspect carnage but the wives are there with us to calm us down.

We dropped weather lucky, last week, with our week away. It was so warm one day, I was in shorts.

In my youth, I spent several years, each annual holiday hitch-hiking down to Cornwall, and walking the coastal paths, camping along the route. Cheap camping, often even no-charge.
