What have you been doing today?

A guided trip around the lake. Took all day. 89 miles around it but we did break it up with a boat trip. Stopped at Garda, Sirmione and Salo where Mussolini ruled. Asked a waiter in sign language to take a picture of me and Mrs Mottie underneath a bourganvillia tree, he got the wrong end of the stick and though I wanted a picture of him and her! She couldn’t stop laughing.

My step counter says I’ve walked 7.5 miles. I’m suffering a bit of chafing!

Old postie, collected the junk mail together, and only delivered them when he had actual mail to deliver, making it a simple job to sort the junk, straight to the recyling bin. Our new one, delivers them as soon as he gets them, such that it has become a bit of a nuisance. Today, I downloaded, printed, and completed the Royal Mail form, to send to RM, to stop the junk mail deliveries. https://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/D2D-Opt-Out-Application-Form-2015.pdf

That has to be sent to a FreePost address. Why involve even more wasted time and paper, and many will not even have a printer.

I suggested to our postie to save them up but said they weren't allowed so will try the opt out route as suggested

Lazy day around the pool this morning, fell asleep, Mrs Mottie left me to fry, I now look like I’m wearing a pair of red stockings!

Went into the harbour, bought some bread on the way to feed my newly adopted flock of birds and water birds and we were due to go on a funicular up to an old castle but the heavens opened so we sat in a cafe drinking coffee waiting for it to stop. It didn’t. I suggested we go up anyway but Mrs Mottie wouldn’t have any of it because of the lightning.

Came back to the hotel, got soaked, took advantage of happy hour. Just had a power cut…..

Came home from our Garda mini break, went straight over the allotment to check on things. Courgettes, cucumbers, French and runner beans galore and my largest pumpkin is now 53” or 1.35m in circumference. Best of all, my corn cage seems to be working. My next door plot holder has had his net decimated and all his plants trashed. My next door but two neighbour built a complete walk-in cage from scaffolding approx 7x12meters. Last year, he had his netting slashed and his corn crop (approx 50 plants) trashed. This year he strengthened it with chicken wire all over which was doing the job so far but the badgers have tunnelled under and ruined half the crop. I e laid planks, pavers and bricks around the perimeter of mine to prevent tunnelling. I noticed that he had put a snare in the hole to catch the badger but that’s not nice so I closed the snare up. I might take an old teddy bear or something that was our dogs toy and put that in the snare - that'll keep him guessing! :ROFLMAO:

Ever notice you very rarely see a badger dead in the middle of the road they always seem to be laying at the side of the road mainly just on it .

Potting on herbs ordered a couple o' days ago; packed and sent yesterday then arrived today just a few minutes after reading an e-mail saying they were on the way. Been using this supplier in Kent for years and they never let me down: kudos to the posties for their speedy ways.(y) Finally dug out an old tree stump and plan to saunter off into the shade now the sun is too high for my liking.

Top tip to kool down: one cold water melon and a handful of apple mint for flavour. A large bottle of cider. A hammock in a sultry breeze. Sorted.
