What have you been doing today?

Having a tidy up in the house today and I charged my mums old phone up that I found in a drawer. While it was on charge, it rang. The person asked if they could speak to Shirley (my mum). He was calling from the estate agents that she bought her house from about 17 years ago. When I told them that she had passed away last year, without missing a beat he said "I see her house is up for sale and I wondered how the sale was going". I called him all the f*****g c***s before putting the phone down on him. F*****g estate agents!

Finished dismantling my bike engine.
Done a list of parts to order from motherland.
Now need to find someone who can change cables on a 45 year old stator...

Just prepping dinner. French trimmed rack of lamb, hasselback potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables.

Went over our daughters. She has two cats and has just had a cat flap fitted which involved fitting a new glass panel in her patio door. It works by picking to the signal from their microchip and unlocks allowing them to push through either in or out. She can put them on a curfew by letting individual cats in but not out and not only that, she gets a message on her phone telling her when they have come in, when they have gone out or even when they are just stood there looking out! Amazing what they can do these days.

We have one of those for our cat as well…very handy for keeping her in at night.

Might need to start keeping her in during the day as well, as we live on a popular dog walking route and she’s taken to picking fights with dogs.

:ROFLMAO: Your cat was up for a fight there!

Whilst our daughter and her husband are not new to cat ownership - they have had several (old) housebound rescue cats in their twilight years and they kept them until they passed away. This rescue pair they have taken on, (brother and sister) are not yet a year old and they run them up to the vets if they so much as cough or have a runny poo! They must have spent near on £2k on vets fees so far (they are insured). 'George' went missing on Friday morning around 11.00 and my sister and her husband were out walking the streets tinkling a bell and calling out for him and, basically, expecting the worse as he’s never really gone further than next doors garden. They got a message on their phone telling them he had just come back at 5.30 in the morning, soaking wet, covered in mud and totally exhausted. They immediately grounded him using the app. They’ve got a lot to learn about young cat ownership! :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, vets are a complete racket now...lots of big business/private equity getting into buying practices now, which drives the costs up.

We also have an Air Tag on Milka as she likes to go walkabouts - would suggest they'd be good purchases for your daughter (Samsung do an equivalent. It's not perfect by any means as it relies on connecting to a device nearby, but it's usually good enough to flag where she's been in the last 10 mins or so (as I'm sent out searching for her if she doesn't come back at night).

Once you get close (within about 50ft) it'll tell you which direction they're in and how far away they are. Usually by that point Milka is in earshot of the Dreamies tub I'm shaking and she comes to find me.

Need to change the battery in it...but its only a calculator style battery, so it cost pennies and last about 3 months.
