What have you been doing today?

Mrs Mottie and I took our Grandson to the cinema today to see the magic faraway tree. Our daughter got us a deal on the tickets, all 3 of us for £20 (should have been £38). 2 medium cartons of popcorn, a large Coke and a small slush puppy - £23. Later in, a 339ml of water - £1.75. Oh, and £5.10 for parking. Not cheap for just over 2 hours.
Part of the story of the film was that kids can do without electronic devices and entertain themselves. I fell asleep halfway through and our Grandson got bored with it about 15 minutes from the end. Missing his devices…….

An entire day, in hospital, in the kidney department, trying to see if they could work out the cause of these weird episodes. Their frequency has gradually increased, to the point where almost anything can trigger them, having me flailing about in agony, but never any obvious physical pain, and no physically measurable symptoms. I just know I quite suddenly feel absolutely terrible, muscle become very weak, I flail about, unable to find comfort, feel overheated. I switch the overhead fan on, and when I am cold, and shivering, I am back to normal.

Av had to struggle to haul me out of the bath Sunday, I was in such a distressed state. Then more episodes Monday, so I asked he to ring the kidney department, and see if they fit me in for an urgent appointment, to try to see exactly what going on. Appointment arranged for this morning....

All day in the department, a full set of blood tests, full ECG, and they were not convinced the episodes were due to my kidney failures. Luckily(unluckily?) I had a mild episode there, and in front of the doc, but a fairly mild one, so they tried the ECG again. Spotting a small difference between the two, they referred the print-outs, to a specialist to study them at his leisure.

They have me booked for a 48 hour heart monitor, and in the meantime, swapped my beta-blocker tablet, for a beta-blocker, plus anxiety tablet, working on a theory that it might just be anxiety, causing the episodes..

I have a fair bit of experience in anxiety Harry, just reading your post I got to the bath part and I instantly suspected anxiety and panic attacks mate. It sounds very much like it, you get lots of tests done, blood, ECG, 48hr monitor, all to reveal nothing. Anxiety and panic atacks are worse than having the actual ilness as they come on suddenly and out of the blue and are really frightening. Once the wave of fear goes you are left drained mentally just waiting for the next one to happen. There is hope though Harry and help is available.
