What is 'Freesat'?

No, I'm not a child singer, a Lacrosse player or maker of knives!

Though the swedish artist is quite good isn't she?

Freesat is also very useful for ex Sky customers.
Simply have your card converted and you can watch it.
Unless your reason for leaving was because the equipment broke :D

Freesat are a commercial body who are broadcasting television and radio services over satellite to the UK only, on the Astra 2D satellite. TV and set top manufactureers who put the logo on their kit have to jump through a lot of hoops. The main 'advantage' of freesat is that you get their propriatry electronic programme guide (which is broadcast as data).

Because freesat are not using any encryption on their broadcasts (they want you to watch them), there is no reason why you need a freesat reciever to watch the channels. Other satellite recievers that can look at the Astra 2 satellite will still see all these channels and others but not the EPG though. - although most people will be satisfied sticking to freesat stuff. Freesat kit will work with a sky dish.

Thanks Yarn,
ain't got a dish though so wife will have to be satisfied with Virgin. ;)
