I'm building some LED lighting into a cupboard. The LEDs run off a DC power adaptor brick which I want to hide away and have a separate switch on the side of the cupboard. I plan to run a 3-core cable from a standard 13A wall socket (conveniently positioned inside the cupboard) up to the switch, then another piece of similar cable back to the power brick. Max current on mains side will be 5A.
So effectively I just want to insert a switch into a standard "kettle lead".

My question is what sort of switch should I use? I'd like just a standard light switch for aesthetics but was wondering if I should use a dual pole to be on the safe side. If you say single pole is OK, should I just run the live cable through that and connect the neutrals and earths directly?
Thanks for your help.

A 5A switched fused connection unit.
2.5mm ² T&E from the socket to the SFCU - provided the socket (ring final circuit assumed) isn't already a spur.
Then 1mm² T&E from SFCU to transformer - connect using a junction box which should accessible as should the transformer and onto the lights.
