Hi

For a porch and dinning room, we need to fill 200mm 'off' virgin sand/soil.

It was specified as 100mm of hardcore, but to reach solid bed it has taken us down to a depth of 200mm

We have a "lot of bricks" that we have broken in half, plus lots of concrete
around the same size.

The area is around 5m x 4m - this will be for Blinded Hardcore.

It will be wakerplated.

We cannot call the BCO down at the moment, so my question is;

Is half a brick size acceptable?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks, Stephen

Half bricks will leave a lot of large voids, and the hardcore will move over time because of this. If you can place each brick to avoid this then that could work, but would be tedious to say the least

It is the large voids to consider rather more than the size of the pieces
