What smoke alarms are we fitting

Another vote for AICO from me.

As they have a lifespan (10yrs) and a date stamp on them I tend to buy them from reputable supplier who has turnover so I get units with a long life. (Concerned that cheap sellers selling old stock).

Ionisation detectors are obsolete, and the cheaper versions with 9V battery backup in them will require replacement batteries every year or two, assuming someone actually remembers to replace them.

Agree with Aico/Ei, we (housing association landlord) use them, I find them really great alarms, especially the new ones, as you can extract data from them as a gas engineer or electrician. We have others (Kidde and BRK) installed in some of the new build properties and they’re not a patch on Aico/Ei. The other manufacturers we have encountered a several issues with them.
