As you can see the decorators have broken the ceramic.

The opening is 16 inches wide.

The chimney is a standard wide brick chimney.

Is there any type of gas fire I cannot use?

Of course I am going to use a Corgi fitter.

But I am looking around for fires, and dont want the fitter to have to come out twice.

The flue is a brick chimney in a relatively new house I dont expect that to cause a problem.

It would be better if you used a Gas Safe registered installer. Corgi ceased to be the registration body for gas installers almost three years ago.

As for what you can or cannot use, it really is up to your installer as Lightning has said. A site inspection will be required to confirm the condition and suitability of your existing chimney, amongst other things. It really is impossible to say what might be suitable without being there to inspect it.
