Hi

Im planning on building a summerhouse/playroom for the kids during this year. I'd like to run power up to it now though ready for when i book the design visit etc.

What questions should i ask the electrician?

I will do the labor of digging, how deep do i need to go?

Will it be ok to do it this way or would i be causing more headache for myself and just have the electrics installed when the shed is being built?

Tell him how much power you require(what will you be using/power wise).
Depth of trench 450mm, you could install ducts(power+tele/phone) pull cables through later. Take photo`s of trench showing depth, most electrician would have no problem with someone else digging trench, why pay sparks rate for digging.

I would wait for the build as the best location for sockets and lights may not be obvious, also there will be stuff that can't be finished until the structure is there . if having power would help the build you could get a leg most of the way to an outdoor socket then get them back to add the final leg into the summer house.
