If you take away his overdrive he sounds like a pub player.

Music overlay, not His fault

The music in his ear piece is inline with the broadcasting music, and not the music in the arena. Happens to lots of artists, blame the sound engineers, who no doubt will be sacked after making a mess of the most successful artist of all time!
Dress it up all you like.

He's shyte

His record sales, number 1 hits, richest living artist, his song that has been covered more than any other, most successful song writer, number 1 hits, etc etc.....says he not shyte!
Without Lennon - he`s shyte.

Refer to my earlier post about who wrote what hits for the Beatles.

Jimmi Hendrix wins every guitar poll for best player - yet his technique is almost comical.

Yep, undoubtedly an extremely innovative guitarist, who just happened to be in the right era at the right time.

You forgot this masterpiece. McCartney wasn't just The Beatles.

So many stars on one stage....singing with a man they are all in awe of!!!!

I'd still rather see an old stager like Macca than the dismal $hite that passes for music these days.

Maybe his voice is past it's best, but at least there is some quality to the music. There is no quality to 90% of the stuff that's around today, and won't ever be remembered in 50 years time.

Everything was better in my day!

I really hate to say this WS66 but you sound like my mother back in 1966 remarking on my new Jimi Hendrix LP.

He never was a great solo singer, and is now well past his best, but as a songwriter he has been fantastic. I have doubts about how live the 'live' music is at events such as the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, and this rather strengthens that doubt.

He was charming when I spoke with him briefly at the rehearsals for the Liverpool Oratorio in 1991, and that was a great piece.
