I've been stripping back my bay windows with a hot air gun and then a good sand to get the wood ready for finishing.
I put some Rustins shellac on all the knots and then a coat of Zinsser 1-2-3 as a first coat primer. I then put down the first coat of undercoat from the Deluxe Weathershield system ready for glossing. All have been oil based products as will the gloss topcoat.
Due to having to repair some of the windows that had rot in them it has been several weeks just in the undercoat state. This week I noticed that the paint had lifted and cracked in three places! When I ran my nail across thenm the surface just flaked off revealing the bare wood below.
Any ideas what has gone wrong?
