I can't find a diamond drill bit I had!!
I use this for everything
(erm, and everything normally is just drilling into the wall to hang something up!)

I'm going to buy a drill bit from ebay
What size should I get?
4mm? 6mm? 8mm?

Ok... The above may sound like a dumb question :)

Also... What should I be buying?
I assume I need a diamond drill bit? This goes through anything?

Thanks

You don't need diamond bits. I would only use diamond bits and tiles.
You need to buy bits that are suitable for the application.
But if you are generally going in to masonry, that is the type of bit you require good quality, with a decent SDS drill.
The required size bits for holing will depend on the weight of item being hung and the selection of plug being used.
Standard wall fixing plugs
Yellow Plugs=5mm bit
Red=6mm
Brown=7mm
Blue=8mm
Grey=10mm
Grey Sanitary plugs often will require larger holing, ranging from 10mm-14mm

Great
Thanks for that
5mm is what I want - I have yellow rawl plugs

I've seen drill bits for the specific type I need
I'm happy I asked now, I would have blindly ordered diamond drill bits

go for 6 and red plugs they are more normal for general use yellow are seldom use
red plugs will accept the screws you put in a yellow plug

ok. i haven't ordered yet
i think i will do as u say
thanks for the tip

Useful to have slightly small bits for poor walls, so 5.5mm etc, ensures a snug fit.

i was 100% sure ebay would give me a better price
i popped into my local diy shop and picked up the drill bit i need for £1.49

i got a 5mm - this was the size i had and one that serves just about everything i need it for
any bigger would not have been much use
