The eastern front was not comprised entirely of German troops

Austrians
Italians were in Stalingrad
Bulgarians
Romanians
Ukrainians
French
Belgys
Dutch

Finns were fighting the Russians

Uncle Fritz?

yep had a great uncle in Stalingrad who was alive 3 or 4 days before the German army surrenderd going by his last letter out

Killed in the intervening days or died in captivity ??
Dunno

he would have been my grandmothers younger brother

You could predict the out come , amazing
Pretty much ...... yes....

If Britain fell to the Germans... the Americans and our allies would not have had a base to free Europe from occupation.

The German's then would have went on to defeat Russia. America would not have the support of its people or the capability to free Europe from German from afar. We would be speaking German......

Anthony beever think he is the author ? wrote a very well researched book on Stalingrad

check that.

Start with German losses on the Eastern front.
Around 9 out 10 Germans were lost in the East.
The Germans were already in retreat by D. Day, although without the military aid from America and Britain it could have been a different story.
So all 3 big powers and their allies can claim to have been indispensable to victory over Germany.

Joe stalin gave no hope for the British standing up to the Germans after hitler took most of Europe

stalin went out of his way to appease hitler

snd was totally shocked and taken by surprise when hitler launched operation Barbarossa against Russia he refused to believe the first reports of the invasion
His army collapsed en masse at the start

That must be why Germany was defeated in October 1939, and our boys were home for Christmas.

No, wait......
Are you actually British?

Do you feel any pride in your country?

I wonder if Gasbag's sources can tell him how many of the German forces were killed, wounded, missing or captured facing the Soviets

And what fraction of that number facing the Western allies.

Who cares they were nazis.
