LibDems like silly traffic calming schemes that serve no purpose other than frustrate people
A sweeping statement; such schemes are likely very welcomed by some (many?) but this group is easily drowned out by the naysayers (ably supported by our predominantly RW meeja).
Besides, as a (former?) cyclist yourself, would you not cycle more, perhaps even commute by cycle, if the route was safer and generally more pleasant? I know that I would, and I reckon there would be many more who share my view.
They can't win anyway, so it's a waste of time to vote for them.
I tend to agree, but that is as much a failing of our FPTP electoral system as it is of the Lib Dems.
Unless you think that parties foremost aim should be getting elected, and saying whatever cobblers (they don't intend ever to go through with) gets them into office? Like Farage does.
labour seem to think that wealthy people got their money exploiting the poor.
"Seem".
Another way of expressing the above is that "the wealthy got where they are because the system that enabled this did so at a significant cost to others".
Not all wealthy are exploitative; some took those that worked with on the journey too, and they all benefitted.
Not all wealthy are grafters; some inherited it, some got lucky through nepotism, old boy networks, got a house that skyrocketed in value.
I want a country that can compete on the global scale. I'd like some wealthy high tax payers to be attracted to residing in the UK, so they can pay in to the UK.
I agree. One part of attracting the wealthy is making the country attractive.
If a wealthy person wants to live in splendid isolation in a gated estate in Surrey, they might as well do that somewhere with better weather, or scenery.
I don't particularly get upset that 43% of my income goes in tax, I don't have much time for people who pay <10% suggesting I should pay more.
I agree, when these are avoiding or evading their fair tax.
For those who have to choose between heat or eat though, that's a different story.
