Where to put isolator for bathroom fan

Ok. Reason is as follows.

We are renovating our bathroom. There's a existing fan but I was told it's not connected to live. I do need it connected to live as us main bathroom and I want trickle on.

What to connect fan to live do I need to add a isolator?

I used to be assessed for safety while on the job and everything I did was scrutinised closely.

On one job, I had a 4" timer fan to change and it was on a pullcord iso right next to the fan on a short cord.

But I had to lock off at the board (SP) in order to "work safely"....

Then we got a load of these, which meant we could lock off any single gang device.

This is not quite the one, ours were red, but I couldn't find it.
