Where's our Nige?

But we already had control of non-eu immigration, it was only the eu open borders we had no control over. Oh well.

But you find him significant enough to make thread about him.
He promised to man the beaches of Southern England and rid us of those pesky migrants. Standing proud in his bright cord's, clenched fist, and the rousing..."Rule Britannia..." playing triumphantly in the background. It's enough to give a flag shagging gammon a wet dream.

Cynical people might argue that he does populist stuff just to stay relevant. Good ole Fromage.

Ah, but now we have full control of all of it.

Less ability to return asylum seekers now we're out of the Dublin agreement, but at least we're in control!

The UK does no checks at all on inbound goods from EU.

take back control :ROFLMAO:

It's all a huge ****ing joke.

Except it's not funny.
No. We have people drowning in the channel because they think it's easier to get asylum now so they're trying to cross even more. That isn't funny.

Pretty sure non of these people are EU citizens, so not really anything to do with Farage or Brexit.
UK voluntarily exited from the Dublin Agreement, and UK have voluntarily created antipathy between UK and EU, creating an attitude of distrust and poor cooperation.
That was all to do with Brexit, and Boris's intention (or lack of) of honouring Agreements.

difficult to stem any migration when said illegal migrants are encouraged and assisted by governments

like the French scoundrels the same as that Bell a russian scoundrel ref Poland

"Illegal migrants", as in those who travel prior to getting a visa (ie irregular migrants), are vastly outnumbered by migrants that get a visa and hop on a plane or train - irregular migrants account for around 1.9% of all migrants.

But yet, people seem to focus so much attention to the minority group who are often fleeing for their lives.

Some boring stats

There were 668,979 visas granted in the year ending March 2021

The UK offered protection, in the form of asylum, humanitarian protection, alternative forms of leave and resettlement, to 8,640 people (including dependants) in the year ending March 2021

there were 257,637 decisions on applications to extend a person’s stay in the UK (including dependants) in the year ending March 2021

The number of people entering detention in year ending March 2021 was 12,967 .... In the year ending March 2021, 12,840 people left the detention estate
Obviously not including people that we do not know about, and assuming that all those entering detention were irregular migrants, then these people account for about 1.9% of all immigrants.

All we've really done is stop hard working Europeans from wanting to come here.

Where do migrants come from? In order of most first (2019 figures):
  • India
  • Poland
  • Pakistan
  • Romania
  • Ireland
  • Germany
  • Bangladesh
  • South Africa
  • Italy
  • China
None of these countries are sending "illegal" immigrants due to unrest, civil war etc.

So, once again. We need migrants for our economy to run, for our NHS, to build houses, drive lorries and busses etc.
Yes, there are some unfortunate people who have had to flee their country, losing their life's earnings and their heritage and inheritance, but that is only a tiny percentage, less than 1% of all the foreigners coming into in the country.

So, can somebody explain, what exactly is the problem, and why did anybody think Brexit would change that.

Even Jeremy Clarkson agrees:
It makes no sense to me at all, said Jeremy Clarkson in The Sun. We keep hearing that the post-Brexit exodus of EU citizens has left pubs, builders and farmers in dire need of staff. At the same time there are people turning up on our shores every day – just when the UK needs workers. “So why are we putting them in detention centres? Why aren’t we sending them to Norfolk, and employing them to pick vegetables?” These are people with real drive and “gumption”. And all we ever do “is think of ways to send them away”.
