Which? finds all boiler services sub-standard or dangerous

This is being discussed elsewhere, generally agreement that Which findings are reflected by people who do not have a known and trusted person ( most often a private company / sole trader ) to service their gas equipment.

Have Which been confused by the use of the word CORGI, Are they aware that the CORGI scheme is no longer operational.

which said:
Corgi
The engineer said he couldn’t service the boiler because a replacement part was required, but he did carry out some work. This meant that the legal requirements still applied, but our experts didn’t judge it as a service. He didn't find the faulty pressure and so failed to meet the minimum legal requirements. One of our experts said the engineer had ‘left the boiler potentially unsafe’. Last year we found that the Corgi HomePlan engineer had fired the boiler with the case off and didn't follow the manufacturer’s servicing instructions properly.

This is not the CORGI (Council for Registered Gas Installers) which ceased operation April 1st 2009

It appears to be a company in Dunfermline
Green Installer Ltd t/a CORGI HomePlan which was incorporated 21st April 2009

Yes, it is Corgi HomePlan.

I occasionally work for them. Their service guidances are written black and white to do burner pressure checks.

It was failed by an individual.

Well that's it then leave Worcester alone cos they're perfect and let Joe public do his own servicing.
At least it will boost the building trade rebuilding all the ****ing houses that explode due to
DIY servicing and probably lead to more recruitment for the fire service good luck

From the other place.

Good tradesmen can operate sucessfully as independent traders getting contracts on reccommendation and reputation. Those unable to create a good reputation can use trade organisations (*) to buy leads to possible work.

(*) assume these are not the self certification schemes but those businesses which claim the work that tradespeople signed up with them is routinely inspected.

Given that Which? consistently give Worcester as best buy rating, I would question their impartiality and judgement.

As for gas hissing out into the room, well, what happens when you put the gas hob on...heavens above, gas hissing out into the room before it ignites!
A curry fart is far more noxious and methane-laden than what comes out of a test nipple.

Report written by some pen-pushing academic who knows the theory but a total stranger to the tools.

Get a grip.

Let me just say - out of a sudden almost everyone in this country is an ''engineer'' ,You could call yourself a High-executive certified checked &vetted lavatory engineer ( a toilet cleaner) and it would still fly...

I would not let anyone near my house to do something on it,because I know I can do the stuff better even I'm not High-executive certified checked &vetted ''engineer''.
