It's a new rad so prep would be minimal, maybe a light key? Can I put a standard rad enamel straight over the new finish?

I've used plastikote rad spray in the past, seemed to work well for me.
Aerosol is tricky, even with a lot of shaking, and cleaning out the nozzles of the cans between coats. A reasonable finish can be achieved.

I keep my cans in a bucket of hot water for a while and between coats. Keeps the paint creamy and of course the expansion in the can helps the propellant.
