Which trade?

Hi guys,
This is a silly question I know but I could do with your advice on it. My Heritage thermostatic shower has begun to run tepid, not to say cold, and I gather from a previous thread on the forum I may need to get the thermostatic cartridge replaced. My problem is would it be a plumber or an electrician I need to call? I've never had any problems with showers before so don't have any previous knowledge to rely on.

Better to call the manufacturer's service agent.

They are rather too complicated for most basic plumbers.

Those who can understand them find they are too unreliable to want to get involved in repairs. In any case replacement is often a more cost effective option.

Thanks for the answers. I was hoping to keep the costs down but from what you say maybe I'll end up needing to replace the whole shower. I just want to get a handle on the extent of the thing before I call in a professional - professional fees! - just a few weeks after Christmas is too much.

Exactly what model shower do you have?

If you can get a replacement cartridge it won't be too dificult to change.

Hi Breesey,
The shower was in the house before I bought it so I don't know the model - just a serial number - A0329, a Heritage Thermostatic. Because I don't know how old it is or how it was installed, its more difficult to get an idea of exactly what is wrong with it.
