Which way should a door swing for a small office

Before I saw the pictures, I would have said move the door to the LHS, hinge it on the left and open outwards. Then I saw the whacking great bookcase on the landing!
Doesn’t that depend on what side of the door you are standing on? Swing in if you have the room. We have a swing out door on our downstairs loo but that door will never be left open!
