Nope. The diameter isn't its length it's the name of the special chord that passes through the centre of the circle and bisects its area.

Both answers are correct.
 
A chord and diameter are two different things (although if a chord exactly bisects a circle, then they are of the same length)

A chord can be of any length (as long as it bisects a circle), but a diameter always bisects a circle equally.

OK I was wrong.

I looked it up.

Yes it is a chord but that cord is named a diameter.

By modern convention its length is the diameter.

The differences being preceded by "a" or "the" so diameter is a correct answer to the "name" as reffered to in the question (so is chord).
