I have family that were in the military. Brave soldiers have fought and died for this great country. I put up a recent and pertinent news article about a man dressing up as an officer of the Navy. Apart from you and your fellow trolls posting nonsense, what or where did the thread backfire?

Imho it was a cheap shot at highway man. You’ve history for taking cheap shots at him about his military career.

I think it's more sad really, rather than 'being enraged by the stolen valour'. Silly man with self esteem issues.

I've seen nothing to suggest that Jonathan Carley did what he did for motives which could be described as disgusting, or a smear on genuine patriots, nothing to get "enraged" over.

We don't know that he hasn't got some personality disorder or delusions for which he should be helped rather than pilloried,

I've not seen any video footage, but in the photos it doesn't look as if his demeanour or behaviour was in any way disrespectful. No, he shouldn't have worn that uniform or decorations, and shouldn't have taken part in the ceremony at all (some security questions to answer there, I think) but as far as can be determined from the photos he conducted himself with just as much solemnity as everyone else.

In fact, a spokesman for the event said

“He laid his wreath [respectfully] and behaved [well] before leaving"

It really doesn't look like he did it out of disrespect. Or that it was a lark, or a bet, or a dare. Or that he put it on Tik-Tok.

Don't rely on that article alone. He lies a lot (you know the dance MBK) and not just about his military service.

Here's the article in full:

A man has been charged over allegedly dressing up as an admiral during a Remembrance Sunday event.

Jonathan Carley, 64, from Harlech, Gwynedd, has been charged with wearing uniform/dress bearing the mark of His Majesty's Forces without permission.

North Wales Police said they made an arrest on Friday after a man was seen wearing "the uniform and medals of a high-ranking Navy officer" during a wreath-laying service in Llandudno, Conwy county, on Sunday 9 November.

He will appear at Caernarfon Magistrates' Court on December 11.

Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan said: "We understand that this incident has caused significant public concern, particularly given its occurrence on Remembrance Sunday.

"In response to the reports made to North Wales Police, officers have responded swiftly to make an arrest and proceed with charges.

"We urge members of the public to avoid online speculation and to refrain from sharing any content that could compromise future court proceedings."
