Why have they left out bricks in the external wall?

195 newbuilds are going up behind us, and I noticed that there are a number of missing bricks one row up from the airbricks. This is just one of the houses, but they seem to have this all.

Does anyone know why they might be doing this? It's an incredibly wet site (groundwater at surface level), so figured it might have something to do with that. But no idea really.

That is a weird one. If they are clearing snots at less than first lift, I would think they'll be looking for a new bricklaying gang.

Coring holes were common on council jobs with a CoW years ago. Bricks were put in with a sand course.

Probably just left open. They leave hessian sacking in the cavity bottom then drag it out when the brickwork is complete.

The snots fall down the cavity, get stuck to the hessian and then pulled out with it when they remove the hessian.

I thought most cavities were full fill now so presumably no room for snots?

Not all of them.
