wi fi connections in general

basic question but how do i get my computer to link up with wifi?
on friday i move house and will be in a holiday let for at least 6 weeks, this has wifi
im typing this on a dell inspiron 530 which i have had from june 2008
and it is connected to a modem from virgin media.
i also have use of an older toshiba laptop eqiuim a60 that has a belkin wireless notebook network card,
can i use either of these pieces of kit and if so how? please use simple terms in any answers given

assuming the PCs do not already have wifi, you can fit a USB wifi adaptor

If there is a wifi hub in your rental flat it will probably have some sockets so you can use it wired if you want

Make sure you know the wireless key at the holiday let if going wireless.

well we moved in tonight and the laptop would,nt have, not even get past go but the dell is working after moving it from the bedroom to the living room because of a weak wireless signal. thanks for all your input
