WiFi messed up by Openreach, I reckon

I had issues once and the WiFi scanner app was really useful. Problem I had Was that I could change the channel but the talktalk router would change it back after a short while.
It could also be that the OPs router has a fault with the 2.4ghz and only the 5ghz is working which is rubbish at going through walls.

That is a possibility. Some routers have locked down settings. Over the years I have come across some which, although made by the likes of Netgear, are less configurable

Talktalk use sagecom and Huwui but it may just be sagecom now

Coincidence. Pure coincidence.
2 and a half years of good coverage inside and outside the property, not a single outage of any description then the day after Openreach call and do some work on the connections, my coverage goes teats up. If that's coincidence, then Man City are innocent.

Unless the work was to provide broadband to the neighbour, and the neighbour then installed WiFi that is causing the trouble.
As noted above, my neighbour is having her internet installation updated in November, so I think the addition of that new cable must be by way of preparation for that work.

Wonder if your physical connection in that box was never the best and the visiting engineer knocked it
Could be. I'm hoping my neighbour's daughter can persuade Openreach to come out and check the work they did the other day and if necessary remake the connection.

My router is an Amazon EERO 6. Its full fibre here since 2024.
There was a lot of chat on the now shut down talktalk forum and a lot of people were complaining about the eero yes it's very fast but rubbish at going through walls so you have to have multiple all over the house called a mesh system.
I asked them not to send me that one thank you very much and instead I got the standard looking one.
Still doesn't explain how yours was good then not.
Are they sending a new one to try.

The TalkTalk forum was going to be my first port of call when this problem arose but as you say above its been deleted. So my only option was to call them, which is a tortuous and often frustrating process. They still use foreign call centres and depending on the level of "agent" you're talking to, it can be difficult to communicate the exact nature of the problem you're calling about to people whose first language probably isn't English.

Thanks for clarifying that we do have a mesh system, although ATM we have just two EEROs, one of which is boosting the signal for the camera on the outside of our rear wall. They did send a new one and it made no difference to the coverage, so I'll hang on before doing anything else till I find out whether my neighbour's daughter has been able to get EE to escalate the problem to Openreach and organise a visit from an engineer.

Thanks again for all your help.

Are you aware that talktalk have gone bust and BT have brought them.
As for the call centres I agree its sometimes very difficult to understand them.
Now the forum is shut I use the online chat thing and always get a transcript for proof.

Yes thanks, I am aware that TT have gone down the spout and been bought out by BT, which means I’ll soon be paying for services in advance. I did the online chat thing last week but the wait for a techie to chat with went on so long that I gave up. I did speak to someone later but he insisted on sending out a new router and declined to escalate to Openreach. Hence we are where we are.

I put the sound right up and carry on with something else while I am waiting and hear the "POP" noise when they reply.
