Hi,

I'm not sure which part of the forum I should have posted this in.

I've recently bought a house and I'm doing the kitchen up.

I've got UPVC windows with a wooden frame (think the proper name for this is a jamb?!?!) around it which is rotting and damaged.

I was going to cover this with a PVC frame but believe this will hold any moisture and make the rotting worse

I wanted to replace it and was wondering if I pulled it out would my whole window fall out. Any tips on replacing this

I've attached a photo to show which part I'm on about

Cheers

if the wood is only on the inside of the window and not all the way through to the outside then rip it off and rplace but if the widow has been fitted inside awooden frame then it will be a bit harder, but still not impossible with a sharp chisel

Agreed, the photo seems to show what looks like an internal lining adjacent to the frame itself and as such can be easily and successfully ripped out.
