All,

Having to replace the battery on the wireless siren of our Visonic MaxPower. It's a 3.6v lithium battery with a connector and two cables running off the terminals. Looks like I can buy the battery with connector etc. for about £20 online, or just the battery for about £3!

Can I reuse the cabling on a replacement battery, or should I replace the whole thing? It looks like the tabs are spot-welded to the terminals, but plenty of spare metal to break off and solder onto a new cell - is this feasible? I've attached a photo for info.

Yes you can re-use the cable but not by soldering them to a new battery.

It is not a good idea to solder directly onto a battery as the heat necessary to get a good joint can do serious damage to the battery. It can lead to an internal short circuit and subsequent violent self destruction of the battery.

Get a tagged battery of the correct voltage and solder to the ends of the tags.

https://cellpacksolutions.co.uk/pro...s/?filter_voltage=372&filter_termination=1137 is one of many reputable battery suppliers.

They also have a range of standard batteries with flying leads.
