wiring 5 security lights

The electrical connections are, of course, in parallel but the "in series" is being misinterpreted to mean a radial, ie FCU to 1st light, then another cable to the 2nd light etc until the 5th light has the final cable to it. This means 4 lights would have 2 cables to them, the last one not needing 2.

The alternate is to use 4x junction boxes to avoid the need for 2 cables in-out of the lights, the junction boxes taking the place of lights 1-4 (a 5th junction box would not be necessary).
 
Some PIR floods do have two cable entries. I think the B&Queue ones do.

You could think about LED PIR floods...
