Thanks a million for that TTC. A registered electrician would do any notifying required? A bit like MOT for car?
Sorry I'm banging on a bit about this but my concern stems from a story I heard of a 14 year old dying in an electric shower that had been directly wired into the ring main by an alleged electrician.

Wow TTC, have just used the competent person link you kindly sent and there are 10 registered within half a mile from me!
I thought it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. I will make some calls tomorrow and in the meantime crack on with the floorboards.

From a registered electrician you should sexpect to get an installation CERTIFICATE for the work done and for that work to be notified to the local authority. The notification is done in with the registration scheme that the electrician is a member of (NICEIC, NAPIT, etc)
