wiring a light fitting

hello
can someone help me?
I have new light fitting with just 3 slots on it. obviously 1+, 1neutrol and 1ground. the problem i have is that i have 3 earth 3 neutrol 2 possitive and two other wires with blue and grey sleves from my ceiling. I cant work out were to put all the wires.

You are looking at a light rose. Wykes have a good guide as to the wiring, but be aware,in a rose, you have LIVE WIRES even if the light switch is off...

I always turn OFF all the house electrics before working on any mains electricity, as if you remove all electric power you cant kill yourself.

Be aware, according to current UK building regs, you are supposed to get someone with certification in accordance with Part P before changing one of these lights.

I don't fully understand your first point so won't comment on it.
Your second point is good advice, if a way of testing that the power is indeed off is added.
Your third point is incorrect I'm afraid, anyone can replace a light fitting without notifying anyone else, whether they are capable of doing it safely is a different matter.
