Wiring AURATON 2005

Hello,

I need help wiring my new room thermostat and replacing the old one. The wires coming out from the heating system and going into the old thermostat are colored blue, brown and yellow-green. My new thermostat has wiring slots marked NO, COM and NC. Which wire goes where, and how do i check if I did everything ok before i start using it.

You will need to identfy what cable does what, as many a dodgy person has used yellow/Green as a switch wire!! unless you are fairly competent I would suggest getting an Electrician to check it out

I was asking for help 'couse electrician was asking the amount equal to the price of the thermostat and there are 3 wires of which only 2 i need to put into the 2 of the 3 slots. Any other idea?

Without being on site armed with my multimeter I could only guess - I would pay the man and be safe!!

It is impossible to go into a dialogue with a DIYer over testing cabling and be absolutely sure it will be safe.

First rule with heating systems is, colours mean nothing. So dont assume the green is an earth.

Your new stat will only require COM and NO connected (assuming it only has COM, NO, NC contacts). What we learn to do in the trade is note how the old unit was connected before we take it off,otherwise the job becomes longer and more complex and you end up wading through inaccessible junction boxes full of loose screws and damaged insulation.

Before you know where you are, you have a 3 hr job to make it all safe or a 20min job and a sleepless night worrying about the bodge that you have seen but left.

If you show the customer they usually think you are talking the job up, they've all seen Watchdog. I think many believe Eastenders is real too.

As I have already said PAY THE MAN TO SORT IT - Electricity Does Kill, A Good friend of mine was Killed By Electicty only a couple of weeks ago, so Please take my advice and get a sparks in - you only get one chance at life, don't cut it short!!
