I'm replacing 2 individual sockets with a double in my kitchen. Upon removing the sockets there were 4 lots of twin core, 2 for each single socket. The replacement double socket has one live and one neutral.
What's the best way for me to wire in this new socket?

Not sure if i understand. Can you post a picture of the rear of the sockets?

See the forum index for how to do it.

S'a joke, right?

One is a DP switch, possibly for an immersion, the other is a socket.

Find out whether they are both on the same circuit.

Where are the back boxes?

If the immersion is still in use, you are best reinstating that switch and converting the single to a double buy extending the hole in the wall and fitting appropriate back boxes.
