Hi Everyone,
I need some advice for some machinery I wish to run inside my garage. When i purchased the machine I was told that it would be ok to connect to UK power supply and the load was approx 2kw so I assumed this would be ok using a standard UK plug with a 13amp fuse. I have now found out (machine has arrived!) that the total load is 3300 watts and it blows a 13 amp fuse every time. Reasearch has led me to the conclusion I need a fuse rating of approx 15 amps (Manufacturer has now advised to allow additional 20% making a fuse rating of approx 18 amps)
Unfortunately the only power supply in the garage is a socket fed from the house (normal wall socket) The garage is too far from the house to connect the machine to the cooker socket (assuming I can connect the cooker and the machine to this connection - 32amp only one would be run at any time.) so my question is what options do I have? The cooker is actually hardwired into the socket (single on/off switch) so can this be changed to also accept a 2nd device? and if so how?
As you can probably tell i'm clutching at straws as I had hoped (and been informed) that I could simply plug it in so any advice on the easiest way to run a 3300 watt machine from a domestic power supply without major re-wiring job (rented accomodation) would be hugely appreciated!
Thank in advance.
