wiring spotlights

hello all
i haave just bought 6 240v 50w spotlights
could i put a plug on the end of each and plug them into a 6 gang extension lead and the lead then be hard wired into the main light in the kitchen. at the minute i have 1 bulb hanging in the centre of the kitchen

just thought it would be a whole lot easier than wiring them all in a line and then into the main
all for easy way but maybe not, not a lot of room in the roof space
what do you think silly?
 
If you honestly think that your idea would be easier than doing it the conventional way then you probably shouldn't be doing it.

And "not a lot of room in the roof space"? How is getting up there to put plugs onto the lights, and to connect a trailing socket to the lighting circuit any different to wiring the lights normally?

you need to be aware of Part P as well, as work in the kitchen is a notifiable area of work. You are supposed to get wiring approved and tested either by the local authority, or, alternatively, an approved installer.

DIY at your own risk.
