Is it OK to wire a combi boiler (which I haven't bought yet) into a fused spur which is in the upstairs socket ringmain. I have heard different stories about how it should be wired, for instance that it should have its own cable direct from the dist board, and even that it should be run from from a 1mm cable. Thanks for any help.

Yes this should be fine.
Some people would prefer a boiler on a completely separate circuit to eliminate nuisance tripping (i.e on the non-rcd side of the board). However, 17th regs mean that the way that you run the circuit will probably mean it will need rcd protection.

The spur switch should be fitted with a 3 amp fuse.

If you spur of an existing socket ring you need to run in 2.5mm from the socket to the spur switch
