Thanks for your help with my gate.

The opening is 1600mm wide so I'm thinking of constructing the frame like my drawing, then adding the gate and side panel later.

Does this look like a good idea?

I'm not sure about the cross beam but I don't want the middle post to start twisting and moving leading to an ill fitting gate later on.

Any help appreciated.

cross beam is fine, but depends on how/what your going to use for the paneling?

middle post why not house that like you have for the other 2,that way it will help it from twisting etc.you might want to introduce a noggin in the proposed panel.

Thanks.

I was going to use feather edge to create the side panel.

I was thinking, I could forget the cross beam and use some noggins to stop the middle post from twisting?
