Can the solenoid be purchased separately or do I need to buy the entire gas valve.

just get the whole valve, even if you can find the solenoid it is not worth the risk or the effort

what you talking about it is much easier to change the solenoid than chane all the valve

Presumably the solenoid is open circuit?
