If the box states it's swivel type, then it's been sold not as described and can be returned. Otherwise alter the pipework.

I've got (in Cork) a 9kW, Triton T80Z Fast-Fit, don't know if they are sold in the UK but very easy to install, maybe the easi-fit is its equivalent in the UK?.

I did replace old Titon T80si with T80z (thermostatic). The T80z is installed and works
I can't figure out what the actual difference is between a Triton T80Z Easy fit shower and a Triton T80Z Thermostatic Easy Fit shower. Triton do make a OmniCare shower which has a temperature dial, index 1-9 and the shower's PCB varies the power to the heating elements to give and maintain the required showering temperature, and costs more than twice the price of the others.
The other showers provide a temperature which is determined by the shower flowrate that is set via the "temperature" (bottom) control, this just varies the flowrate through the shower to give the required showering temperature, the present (here) mains temperature is 19.2C so a 8.5kW shower will require a flowrate of 5.86LPM to give a typical showering temperature of 40C. The flowrate then has to be reduced gradually as the mains temperature falls, approaching winter, to maintain that 40C showering temperature. These showers do have a TCO (thermal cut out) that will kill the power at a self resetting 50C (flowrate 3.96LPM) and (if this fails) a non resettable 75C, (flowrate 2.18LPM). They also have a low pressure "switch" which will not close the microswitches until the pressure is 1.0bar at the shower. The showers do have a flow stabilization valve which helps to maintain the flowrate/temperature if a toilet is flushed or a cold tap is opened.
