I having an electrical supply fitted to 3 outbuildings. I'm naturally inquisitive and have been reading up a lot on various places including here (I've read over 100 pages worth of threads, well, the interesting ones). I'm aware that I don't have the necessary test equipment and that's why I've had an electrician round to go over the design and he will be connecting it all up (I am supplying some of the stuff and running the wiring, including 60m underground). Works out easier for me to do it this way as I can run it piecemeal to each building as they are built then he can test / make it all live once it's finally ready.
Anyway, in amongst my reading, I came upon something else that might be of interest to me. The house I am in was extended (virtually rebuilt) before I bought it. It has a Wylex CU and the "last test date" on a sticker on it says October 2009. I assume that is when it was installed, though it could have been done over a period of time and that may be when it was finally completed. I believe some Wylex MCBs were recalled and my board has some of the affected sizes present. Is there a way to know whether they are indeed affected or whether they could have been replaced already? Will my electrician be able to tell? Will Wylex pay for him to replace them?
The outbuildings won't be getting Wylex boards in.
