My mother in law wants her santa thing with a rope light around it in the garden!!! it has a 13amp plug on it, how can i do this safely?
10mm armour a bit ott?
its going to be about 3-4meters from the house.
can i use a new flex and put it in conduit and plug it into a socket via a rcd? if not what do you suggest.
Cheers ray

You should get an electricin in to install an external, rcd protected socket.
Yuo can not as you suggested use new flex and conduit as how will you connect the existing lights? and plastic conduit will not give much mecanical protection.

But if it were me, why not use the rope light around the inside of the window and plug it in, also but another extendable rope light and plug that one indoors also but that way you can run the extened part outside

see here

other suppliers of rope lights are available

THe rope lights are around a cut out of santa and reindeer(ahh!) so i could remove the orig flex and replace it with something else.
