you need a bbc tv licence after midnight again

You don't ''need'' a tv licence. You simply ignore the letters and door step callers and watch it anyway. The only way you can be caught is if you tell them who you are, and why would you be stupid enough to do that ?.. apparently some people are

I wouldn't advise answering the door.

Martin Lewis advises that you don't need a licence if you don't watch BBC.

But if you have an aerial and a TV, how do you prove you are not watching them?

You can listen to BBC radio for free, even through a TV. How do you prove to the licence callers you are not watching stuff you need a licence for?

I was under the impression they can only nail you if they actually catch you in the act of watching a BBC program?

GCHQ will tell them.

It is a silly rule in an attempt to counter the 'loophole', but a lot of people are honest and will buy a TV licence even if there were no way of telling.

the TV. BBC iplayer plays "watch again" or "catchup" of previously broadcast stuff, which is the new change.

If you watch live TV, as it is being broadcast, you need, and have always needed, a licence, whatever station you are watching, whether it is on a TV, a laptoy, a tablet or a smartphone.

Just don't let them in, lock doors, windows, pull curtains, turn lights off, switch of phones and then you can safely watch the porn! Unless you are watching it on the mob handset that is!

Perhaps I could have worded it better.

You need a licence to watch any live TV or BBC catchup, including Sky, Virgin et al.

But he said if you watch only non BBC catchup or Netflix, Amazon prime or YouTube (or listen to BBC radio, even via a TV), you don't need a licence.

If the licence peeps come round to check, how are they going to prove you have not watched live TV, BBC catch up, etc....

You are permitted to own a TV connected to an antenna without having to buy a TV licence, which is what they normally look for, but as Gerry said, unless they catch you in the act of watching "licenceable" content, they cannot prove anything. And you of course cannot prove otherwise but you would hope you are guilty innocent until proven guilty.

Well you've no obligation to prove to anyone that you do or don't watch live tv broadcasts.

See it's a fear game they use. They say well the law is this the law is that, really there is no law that they can enforce. The only information they have ever been able to use against a tv licence evader is the information given to them. If you phone tvl and say I don't need a licence it doesn't stop them sending out letters or sending people round with clipboards. The best tactic is always zero contact, zero communication. It doesn't mean you close all your windows and barricade all your doors and become a curtain twitcher, it just means you don't talk to anyone that comes to the door uninvited. All this and that you here about court fines for tv licence evasion is just fear porn, it's designed to trick people into paying up so that it doesn't happen to them. The truth is the ONLY way you can go to court over no tv licence is if you give tv licensing your name and sign an admission of guilt which allows them to prosecute you. This is actually what happens then because they often train tv licensing goons in bullying tactics, they use tricks that make them sound official :

See in the above video they HAD to get the occupants details, they were not actually there to inspect the equipment at all - it's just a game. The occupant stayed his ground and gave no name and off they went. This is the worst that can happen. You cannot be arrested for anything like this.. The video is a perfect example of how to win in the very worst of circumstances. Get over that fear and you realise they have no power at all, nothing at all.

Not true. No evidence gained by perving through a window is admissible in a court, it's pure speculation, it proves nothing. Neither do the recent changes to this catchup online *******s. There is no way to determine WHO is using a computer to watch catchup - it's fear porn again.. Tv licence vans never existed, tv detection equipment never existed, wifi snooping (their newest roll out) will never exist either as the vast majority of wifi home broadcasts are encrypted. In otherwords they can't snoop on your wifi connection as they claim, it's completely and utter *******s.

I've studied this for a long time and I like to think I'm an expert  I know pretty much everything there is to know about tv licensing, how they operate and how to not have to pay for one.

My principle motivation for not paying for one is I don't like funding BBC pedophiles and parasites and I think the institution has far to long allowed to get away harbouring networks of these very sick and demented people. Not with my money.

Pair of goons.

But I stand by what I said. If you had a TV connected to an antenna to enable you to legitimately watch non BBC catch up and BBC radio, (unlike the TV in that clip that was disconnected from the antenna) then they would immediately pounce on you and proclaim with glee: "You have a TV set here that is able to receive live broadcasts or BBC catch up....."
