Rip it down and re-build it, Get the job done properly 1st time!!

If you've had quotes and not 1 has mentioned a re-build then I'd worry about the 'roofer'!! Maybe they'll change a few bricks and repoint the stack and everything will be ok

I'd probably be more worried if they all said they wanted to charge me for a rebuild that may not be needed!!!

Is the chimney still being used? If not then it can simply be taken down and re-tiled over.

Yes, its still in use, at least one flue my side and at least one next door.

Bricks are spalling all over the place, a bit of pointing now is little more than a tart up. I would not waste money making it loook ok this year.. you'll be back up there in a year or two.
