I know about the zones in a bathroom, but is there similar for kitchens?

A friend had his boiler replaced recently. On a visit I took my coffee mug into the kitchen and noticed part of the installation.

There is a switched fused spur 6" above his draining board. It is towards the end of the drainer away from the tap/bowl.

Is this OK?

You've got a spur above the frying pan handle?

Joking aside, I put accessories at least 300mm from the edge of either a hob or a sink (whether that be the bowl end or the drainer end) to keep them away from splashes or spills and steam.

I think one of the old editions to the wiring regulations did give a distance but now it only says things like suitable.

To put a waterproof spur where you show for a waist disposal unit would make sense and to be frank you could have wet fingers anywhere in a kitchen so bar for things like waist disposal which are even more likely to be used with soaking wet fingers all sockets and FCU should have the same degree of water resistance.

Stop eating carbs. Seriously! I've lost 3 stone so far!!!

If it's a switched fused connection unit, the only concern would be ingress of water as near drainer, so this is not ideal but not a complete no-no.
If it were a socket outlet, then guidance is given of 300mm from bowl/drainer. this is only guidance though, so logical thought would be required.
The same would apply to distances from hobs, but if again it were a switched connection unit/iso, then you must take in to consideration that reaching over/across a very hot appliance which could cause harm or hazard, would not be acceptable.
