Please would you explain the reasoning behind locking this topic and leaving the abuse in place?

Is it not like locking the proverbial stable door after the horse has bolted?

Does this not explain it?

You're not interrupting at all, jefoss. In fact, you're one of only two posters (Bahco being the other) who have replied with anything remotely relevant.

OOI, in the scenario of your anecdote, did the other tiler get paid for the time he spent quoting on the job that was given to you?

was going to reply to other post but unfortunatly it isnt usable anymore.

unfortunatly the poor guy didnt get paid, us tilers seem to give free quotes, i dont mind giving free quotes, especially as my prices are good enough to cover the ones i dont get.

Steve, M5's comment explains why he/she locked the topic, but I was asking why the abusive posts were left in place.

The underlying point is that the rules are applied inconsistently. If one moderator, on one day, on one topic, removes or edits abusive posts, I don't understand why all moderators don't do the same thing on every topic on every day.

Locking is a separate issue - if the topic truly was going nowhere, which, as evidenced by jefoss's post above, is not true, then I don't understand why the abusive posts weren't removed before locking it.

After all, if abuse is removed because it might offend people of a sensitive disposition, e.g. minors, then why leave it there for posterity?

you moan if they get left and you moan if they get removed

Stop yer trolling Thermo, or, if you can't, at least be accurate.

I've only ever asked why the rules are applied inconsistently, and "moaned" if there is no answer to the question.

Stop yer trolling

denso13, I acknowledge that my clumsiness probably put your nose out of joint, but I hold no grudge against you.

If I said, or implied, that you were being pathetic, it was a transient thing, i.e. I don't view you as a pathetic person. Lord (sic.) knows, I'm pathetic myself from time to time...

Agreed, I don't like being called pathetic :(
