Floor socket, are they safe?

I'm building a new conservatory with full glass and will need a table lamp near the glass of the conservatory, can't put a socket on the frame, I'm a bit worried regarding cleaning and mopping up the floor with water near the floor socket, am'I right to be concern or any other suggestion? The floor will be engineer wooden flooring or ceramic tiles, don't know yet.

can't mop with a floor socket.. they usually go in carpeted floors and often have a recess on top for a piece of carpet to disguise it.

any other suggestion?
yeah, rethink your interior design layout.. or get a lamp with a longer lead.. or install more ceiling mounted lighting..

Why don't you have a dwarf wall and put the frame/glass on top of that. Solves your problem and looks a billion times better in my opinion.

IP66 rated.

only when the lid is closed.. so they'll have to unplug the lamp and ensure the cover is closed and sealed before they mop..
lid doesn't close with the plug in.. trip hazard?

Okay thanks lads, what if I put in a longer cable from the table lamp first on top of the oversite concrete before floor screed then just plug it in on the wall opposite, any problem with that, the floor screed will be 75mm thickness, metal capping or metal pipe maybe?

I'd be very suspicious of a floor socket in a floor that was going to be washed. It only takes forgetting to unplug or something getting stuck in the seal and stopping it sealing properly to happen once and you have an electrical box full of water which both has safety issues and will be a PITA to sort out.

Our conservatory has a "cavity" around the top of the window frames, where they meet the roof. A cable can be run here. Not sure if its allowed, but you could install sockets here at high level and use a 2.4m trailing socket down to floor level hidden behind curtains or blinds etc.

you rough git...

I was thinking just run the cable round the walls at the base of the frames.. use some of that fancy quadrant trunking that they have for AV installs..

is this thing actually built yet? ordered even?
add a 600mm high knee wall and a 600mm transent ( think that's what they're called? the little windows above doors ) lite above the door to make up the difference and the existing frames and glass can still be used.. just means your roof peak will be 600mm higher..

To be fair, you would be mopping the floor down not blasting it out like the floor of an abattoir.

I guess forgetting to unplug the really obvious cable in the floor and closing the lid would be an easy mistake to make

I have floor boxes with sockets and cat 5 installed into tiled floors. As the cleaners dont tend to sling gallons of water around during a mopping session, water never makes it to the sockets. As far as I can tell, there is no greater hazard here than a floor box installed in a carpeted office.

Okay thanks lads, taken on board, next question is putting in the extended remain cable, can I put in twin and earth or SWA cable under 75mm floor screed round the edge near the cill okay or any suggestion?
