Stair spindles

What is the normal gap between stair spindles? I know its meant so children can't fit through but what is the maximum gap allowed.

The spacing should be less than 100mm at any point.

At no point should a 100mm sphere be able to pass through. So technically 99mm.

best to aim for 90-95mm if go for say 98mm you have no scope to s-t-r-e-c-h the last few to even out the gap

also remember the less than 100mm appies to anywhere along the spindles so check any turned areas
