Well, I have a better example.

The director of oxfam makes £100k per annum for leeching off the cause. Why can't she do the job for the average wage in the uk which is £25k?

If the cause is so great, yet the people at the very top of these charities are not willing to make what amounts to a small sacrifice for their very cause, then why should the public be guilt tripped into money? It's nothing more than a cottage industry that a lot of dishonest people are making very good money off. Starving children are just a gimmick to use to drum up donations, which the paid workers of these charities use to keep themselves in 4x4s and nice houses, all the while bleating about the suffering that could be avoided if you just dug deep.

The directors of these companies/charities don't pretend to be interested in the cause. They are there for the dosh and to run the thing.

This is something about which I would have agreed with many years ago, in my ignorance, until I heard Tony Robinson give a different perspective.

I will have to praphrase but I’m sure Tony will forgive, if not endorse, what I’m about to say...

‘We’ sit in our warm and comfy chairs in front of our TV or Sony Playstation. We drive our cars to the cinema or a mall, (shopping centre), and expect to be able to buy all we want, (not what we always need), without a second thought for those who crave for things we all in ‘The West’ take for granted... Like food, water and health care – and so very much more!!!

So then, if YOU were living in such a dreadful, unimaginable and extreme austere situation, where there is so very little to do, and what little pleasure and comfort and love you can derive from such a dia situation, which YOU are privileged not to EVER have to contemplate – what would you do and what comfort and love would you try to derive from such a desperate and sad situation?

Surely even you can see that the land cannot support the millions, but their numbers are increasing and they are spreading out into the wilds of Africa and displacing the Endangered Species, of which the last time i looked the humans were not at risk!!

Africa has so much undeveloped land suitable for agriculture, it is approx 60% of the world total (just the stuff they are *not* using), and what they are using they are getting about 1/3 out of it than we do, because they use old farming methods.

And this is mostly down to totalitarian tosspot leaders and governments that foster corruption.

And your solution is to give them the power to confiscate children.

Mind you, I'm sure those corrupt governments and leaders can put those children to good use

As payback they educate and employ Africans and bring them into the 21st century, making them a modern, educated democracy.

I don't know why you think my living in penury makes their plight better Joe. I enjoy an enviable lifestyle while trying to help others. The two aren't incompatible or hypocritical if that's what you're suggesting?

Again, if I live like a troglodyte or blow my brains out how does that help their situation? I don't know what point you are trying to make. I'm selfish, like you, and I try to help others, unlike you from the sounds of it...

In any discussion about any topic, any poster may wish to give their credentials and experience. If that's what you call bragging then we may as well all just stop posting for fear of being accused of "bragging".

Tell you what, how about posters keep an eye on your future posts and catch you out when you appear to brag? Deal?
